Ezra Mercury
Ezra Mercury
Ezra Mercury, Port Elizabeth born, Jo'burg based modern musician is bringing a fresh new musical element on the South African music scene, with a quicksilver sound that is flowing its way through popular live music venues.   The music is a fluid, out of this world experience with a hint of The Script, Coldplay and One Republic undertones and a distinct independent flair.   The sound could be described as Modern Pop Rock that is complimented by songwriting inspired by a collective love for telling stories. This is particularly true of hits such as Calling it Over, Lullaby and Caution to the Wind.  I want to sell an experience. Each song needs to be an experience through listening."
XSA Mobile Climbing Walls
XSA Mobile Climbing Walls
Great activities for the young and the gutsy abound at RedFest 2017. Of all the peripheral activities on site, probably the most popular is the climbing wall facility that will safely enable young and old to reach new heights, quite literally. XSA Mobile Climbing Walls seems a company that is doing things in threes, as there are three climbing instructors always on hand to gear up climbers and assist where necessary, three climbing wall sides to ensure no long queues or crossed ropes, and anyone from the age of three and up can have a go! The climbing tower stands out above its surrounds and provides hours of fun for novice or even highly technical, experienced climbers. For those more given to sand & surf, a mechanical surfboard is loads of fun to both master and fall off, surrounded as it is by plenty of cushioned surfaces. Little ones can get buried in thousands of multi-coloured balls in the ball pits, jump all day and well into the evening on the jumping castles, while others might want to indulge the bag design activities or other artistic pursuits. An available soccer field and various ball games round out a feast of entertainment at this year’s RedFest, providing playful fun for everyone!

Laurie Levine
Laurie Levine
Since surfacing with her remarkable debut, Unspoken, back in 2007, Laurie  Levine has  meticulously  crafted  a  career  that  has  turned  her  into a singer-‐‑songwriter of real substance. Over six records and countless live performances, the South African-‐‑ based artist has taken her original material to a growing fan base, earning  multiple  accolades  along  the  way.  Among  these  were  four  nominations at the annual South African Music Awards (SAMA), the most  recent  being  for  ‘Tigerlily’-‐‑  her  duo  project  with  singer  songwriter Josie Field. Over the last few years her performances at the Grahamstown National Arts Festival led to two Standard Bank Ovation Awards. Her music has also received some recognition abroad-‐‑ the UK release of Six Winters led to two successful UK tours in 2012 and 2014 and  rave  reviews  internationally  (No  Depression  gave  it  10/10  and  Uncut gave it 8/10). It’s no secret why Levine has managed to sustain a career in a home market that’s dominated by gospel, urban and pop – and is now poised for a strong international push. As her fans know well, Levine’s gift lies in her ability to draw on the deep roots of folk music, and mix it in with a  myriad  of  other  influences,  including  from  America’s  Appalachia  region and her native South Africa. With the acoustic guitar as her main  instrument,  her  recordings  see  Levine  –  and  a  host  of  superb  musicians – deploy an array of instruments (pedal steel, dobro, banjo, mandolin,  harmonica,  strings)  that  add  the  kind  of  atmosphere  and  layers that propel her songs out of simple singer-‐‑songwriter territory.
