Anticipation is rising as the festival approaches and the school grounds promise to be a wonder of sights, tastes and activities. Festival Director, Matthew Counihan has exceeded all expectations in the sheer reach and scope of the festival theatre lineup.

RedFest – A Celebration of the Arts

Come one, come all! Redhill School is hosting its second arts festival (RedFest) raising the awareness that arts and culture should form an integral part of the school curriculum. Festival Director, Matthew Counihan comments “RedFest aims to pack a punch with youth-focused theatre performed by South Africa’s top actors.  RedFest celebrates the community of Arts and aims to assemble South Africa’s most celebrated on Redhill’s stages. All ages from 3 upwards will be catered for and we hope to create an unintimidating showcase that will ignite a passion for the arts across the entire family.”

Lesedi Job comes home to dazzle at RedFest 2017

A special feature of RedFest this year is our very own Redhill Old Girl Lesedi Job’s direction of Helen of Troyeville, a production that has wowed theatregoers throughout South Africa. Lesedi occupies a special place in Redhill history. Having been dismayed to find no choir in high school, she formed an acapella group that regaled for many years with her at the helm. Nominated as a prefect on the back of her status as head of the students’ Cultural Committee, she has taken a somewhat roundabout route to a career on stage.
